Keeping in Touch Days

What are Keeping In Touch Days?

During maternity or adoption leave, employees have the option to engage in up to 10 ‘keeping in touch’ days, allowing them to stay connected with the workplace. Both the employee and employer must mutually agree on these days, and the nature of work and compensation should be predetermined. Importantly, the right to maternity or adoption leave and pay remains unaffected by the utilization of ‘keeping in touch’ days.

Furthermore, for those on Shared Parental Leave, an additional 20 days, termed ‘shared parental leave in touch’ (SPLIT) days, are available. This supplement is in addition to the 10 ‘keeping in touch’ (KIT) days provided during maternity or adoption leave.

It is important to ensure your payroll manager is aware of employee KIT days and dates as this will affect pay and benefits.
